Let's go fly a kite...

Yay! It's release day for the newest collection of stamps by Stacey Yacula for Purple Onion Designs called The Sweetest Day and you can find all of these gorgeous pieces of rubber right here! To celebrate, I made this card using the Kite and one of the sentiments from The Sweetest Day Sentiment Set.

I started my stamping and embossing my main image with versafine and clear embossing powder. I then water coloured the kite with my tombows and a water brush. I also stamped off a mask to cover my kite so that I could sponge in some clouds and as a final step I added some extra shading with my chalk pencil :D.

Thanks for coming by today and I will be back a little later in the week with a card that I made for my Dad's 60th Birthday :D

Introducing Freckles the Frog

Hey everyone! I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend! We got to enjoy some beautiful weather around these parts so I'm a happy girl :) Speaking of happy, I think that today's post will make some one's day for sure! Remember on Saturday when I introduced some new stamps by Purple Onion Designs? Well, with all of you leaving me such lovely comments, I got to draw a winner for the Tucker and Toadstool stamps that Michele from Purple Onion Designs is giving away :D

Before I announce the winner, let me tell you a little bit about my card. This is Freckles the frog and he is another new stamp from "The Sweetest Day" collection. Isn't he sweet? I also added the party hat and sentiment from the collection to complete the card :)

I water coloured Freckles with my tombows and water brush and paper pieced the party hat. As a finishing touch I added some small details like glitter to the hat and some glossy accents for the eyes. I quite like how this card turned out especially with the slightly unusual colour combo :D

Meet Tucker and Toadstool!

Hi everyone! I get to post today on behalf of Purple Onion Designs! Michele asked me to help introduce a new collection of stamps called The Sweetest Day that she will be debuting in the next couple of days from one of her new illustrators - Stacey Yacula.

For my card today I used the Toadstool stamp and the Tucker stamp (he's the sweet little snail). First of all, all of the stamps in this collection are on the larger side so they are awesome to colour! I water coloured Tucker and the Toadstool with my tombow dual brush pens and blended them with a water brush and then I took some re-inkers and attacked the background to create this vintage/grungy scene. For me these illustrations look like they should be straight our of a modern day fairy tale :D I adore them and I'm thrilled that Michele asked me to help her introduce them to the public!
