Some very bright Wise Men

I have no idea where this DP came from because it was partially cut up and in my stash of scraps, but did it ever inspire some bright Wise Men! I paired up the Baja Breeze(ish) designer paper with some leftover Inque Boutique browns and came out with this :)

I just received my Top Note Die this week from Stampin' Up! and my ODBD Wise Men fit inside nicely. I am always inspired by some many people over at Splitcoast that I decided to find my inner "Jerri Kay" to create this watercolour card. I embossed the Wise Men with gold embossing powder and watercoloured them using mostly SU markers and a few re-inkers. I then cut off the outside edge of the die cut to mate it on a darker base so that it "popped" off the card. To finish off the card it needed a little bling. I highlighted some of the areas on the Wise Men with my Sakura Stardust pen as well as the mustard matting to create some continuity.

After seeing this photo, I know what you guys are thinking! I know...this card is lacking in the dimension that most of my cards usually have, but there was no way that I was going to try cutting out those Wise Men ever again! I did it for the luminary so that they created a silhouette and almost dismembered some of them! Poor Wise Men! They definitely deserved better than that, so I decided to leave them alone :) lol

Card Recipe:

Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs - We Three Kings
Paper: Papertrey White, Inque Boutique DP, Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Watercolour, Unknown DP
Ink: Versa Mark, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, More Mustard, SU Markers, Various Re-Inkers
Accessories: Sewing Machine, Cuttlebug, Top Note Die, Aqua Painters, Gold Embossing Powder, Dimensionals, Sponges, Brads, Mat Pack, Piercing Tool, Stamp-a-majig

**A few of you who read yesterday's post asked me how I made the folds on this card. I used a brass Fold 'Em Template and cut where the lines are with my craft knife. All you do then is score the tops of the cuts, fold the piece back and tuck it in the flap before it. Sounds and looks hard, but it is really easy :) These templates work the best if you use a lighter weight paper and will have a different look if using double sided paper like this card. I hope that this helps :)**

Kim, may I ask what watercolors are you using. Your colors are always so vibrant in such a distinct way and yet they just blend so well. This is stunning!
