CDS Sneak Peek - The Measure of A Man

Recognize this shaker card? This little card was made for my debut as a Dirty Dozen member for the March 2009 gallery - TV Dinners and was the complete inspiration for my newest Clear Dollar Stamps illustrated set called "The measure of a man". This set will be released on September 1st.

The set was a collaboration of both me for the images and my wonderful husband who thought up the sentiments...and you can quote him on those! lol This set has such sentiments as "He who dies with the most remotes, wins", "Definition of multi-tasking: picture in picture", "A man's self worth is measured by the size of his t.v" and "Vintage never goes out of style" with coordinating sentiments of "Happy birthday" and "Enjoy your day". I have been told by Bill that this set will be a best seller because the sentiments are perfect for any man! Cheeky, isn't he? LOL

To see a peek of this set in it's full form, please hop on over to the Clearly iStamp blog to see this and the other sets that are being previewed today and also don't forget to visit all the the very talented ladies that are showing off all of their lovely samples for you today:

Classes for Fall 2010:

Water Colouring with Tombow Markers: Starting Tuesday, September 21st and will run weekly for 6 weeks. Cost is $50 USD and online classes are through My Creative Classroom.

Click here for more details on this class.

The last day to enroll for this class is October 1st. This is a 6 week long class with a new lesson uploaded once a week.

I am also teaching the Sponged Ink Backgrounds class starting November 2cnd. You will have until November 13th to enroll and this is a 4 week class that will have a new lesson uploaded weekly.

Thank you to everyone who emailed both MCC and myself to enquire about my classes! I have the best students ever!

If you have any questions regarding online learning, please feel free to email me and I hope to see you all in class :D

TSG Sneak Peek - Believe in You

Welcome back to the last day of the There She Goes blog hop of sneak peeks. If you have arrived here from sweet miss Jodi's blog the you are right where you should be. If not then please start the hop at the beginning from Danielle's blog :D

Today I bring you a somewhat different kind of card made with stamps...

This cute little bus was actually made from one of the images and sentiments from the Believe in you set by Torico. Do you recognize the little school bus from the other sneak peeks? ;) To make this card, I created a template on the computer from the image and then proceeded to print it on the various colours of card stocks. I then cut out the pieces that I would need from each colour (ie: just the soft sky for the windows) and discarded the rest of the scraps. I then turned the pieces over and attacked them with my sponges and inks and then re-assembled them puzzle style to another print out of my template. I then used some paper punches to create the various lights on the bus and hand drew in the details with my black marker and white gel pen.

This card as it turns out is about the size of a note card and would not only make an adorable card for someone, but a beautiful addition to a back to school scrapbook layout :D So the next question that I know you are dying to ask is "are you giving out the template?". Well, the answer is no but miss Jessica Knutsen will be giving this cutie template away to anyone who purchases the Believe in You set and will be doing a Tips and Tricks post on how everything is assembled :D *Happy dance all around*

TSG Sneak Peek - Bit of Stardust

It's that time again for the There She Goes sneak peeks to start up and we have some great sets to show you, starting today! This set that I get to show you is called Bit of Stardust and it's a super cute baby set that was illustrated by Torico. There is also a new Stamps for a Cause set being previewed today called Angel Mail and you will be able to see this set in it's finest while hopping around the Trendsetters blogs today :)

If you have arrived here from Jodi's fabulous blog then you are in the right hop spot, if not then please start your ogling journey from the super talented Danielle's blog :)

For the Bit of Stardust set, I chose to use the baby onesie and tried to create a backdrop to sort of showcase the image on. I paper pieced the onesie and used some prismas and gamsol to add some dimension and then added a little flower with a paper punch and topped it off with a liquid pearls center.

The papers are all from My Mind's Eye and I used some coordinating Bazzill cardstocks for matting. I added a layer of white in between the card stock and designer papers to really make the designer papers pop.

Would you like a chance to win the Angel Mail and Bit Of Stardust stamp sets? Here’s what you need to do: go to each of the Trendsetter’s Blogs and leave a comment on their Angel Mail / Bit Of Stardust Blog Hop Challenge post. After you have finished checking out the eye candy and have left some love, return to the TSG Blog to add your name to the Mr. Linky at the bottom of this Blog Hop Challenge post. A winner will be chosen randomly using a random number generator to receive their very own Angel Mail and Bit Of Stardust stamp sets! The winner will be announced Saturday (the 28th) during the Release Party Chat.

Thanks for coming by today and now you are off to the lovely, Lisa's blog for more stampy goodness :D

Forever on your heart...

Paw prints that is ;) Today's challenge over at the TSG blog is to make an ATC or Artist Trading Card. These cards are 3.5" x 2.5" and they are decorated and ready to be traded to be assembled on a card. Easy right? I thought so! And did you know that there is a prize involved for participating in the TSG69 challenge?

To be eligible for the giveaway, you are to create an ARTIST TRADING CARD (ATC), then come back to the TSG Blog to add your name and a link to your project in the InLinkz that is located at the bottom of the TSG69 challenge post. This challenge is open until the winner has been announced on the following Monday (August 30th). The winner will get a $5 gift certificate to use in the TSG Web store, so what are you waiting for? Oh right...the rest of my post of course ;)

I brought out my Puppy Love set because the images are not only adorable, but also the perfect size for this type of card. The little guy has been water coloured, the grass was done with prisma pencils and gamsol and the edges were sponged with baja and antique linen inks.

So now, because I'm a sweetheart and wouldn't leave a girl hanging with wondering what I did with my super cute ATC card (which was the first one I ever made) - here is what my finished card looks like:

I ended up mixing up a bunch of scraps that I had, and created a kind of patch work background. I only had one other paper that went with the green 3 bugs DP, so I had to improvise and try to get my light pink paper to blend in without seeming too out of place ;)

Thanks for coming by today and stay tuned for my There She Goes sneak peeks coming a little later this week :D

Card Recipe:

Stamps: There She Goes - Puppy Love
Paper: Gina K, Black, Water Colour, 3 Bugs DP
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Ranger Distress Antique Linen, Suede, Baja
Accessories: Sewing Machine, Cuttlebug and Embossing Folders, Clear Embossing Powder, Sponges, Pop Dots, Tombow Dual Brush Pens, Water Brush, Prismas, Gamsol, Button, Ribbon, Linen Thread, Corner Chomper, Scallop Edge Punch, Crystal Effects

Cherry Blossom Book Mark

Something different. Something kinda pretty, and really easy! I made this book mark for the TSG68 challenge that's going on over at the There She Goes blog today!

Every week the Trendsetters host a challenge and this week it just happens to be book marks of all shapes, sizes and types :) To be eligible for a $5 gift certificate to the store, simply create your book mark and link the photo to the Mr. Linky at the bottom of the challenge post over at the TSG blog.

Sorry for the crumby photo of my book mark! I was wrestling with my light box to get the book mark displayed nicely and my light box was playing dirty! The book mark kept falling over and tilting to the side so I whipped out a piece of white card stock for the back ground and snapped the picture in a huff. That will show my light box with-an-attitude. Pffftttt ;)

I used the cherry blossoms and sentiment from one of the newly released sets called The Journey. I water coloured the background with my Ranger Distress Denim ink and then tackled the blossoms themselves with my Tombow's. I think sponged the edges with some suede and antique linen inks and finished off the book mark with some coordinating card stocks and ribbon.

Thanks for coming by today and I hope that you get a chance to play along with us :D

Book Mark Recipe:

Stamps: There She Goes - The Journey
Paper: Black, Baja, Water Colour
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Ranger Distress Denim, Antique Linen, Suede
Accessories: Sewing Machine, Cuttlebug, Spellbinder's Label Die, Sponges, Clear Embossing Powder, Eyelet, Ribbon, Beads, Tombow Markers and Water Brush, Scallop Punch

SC293 - Tea and Love

Hi all! I'm back with a super quick post so that I can show you that once in a while I get a chance to participate in some SCS Challenges ;) I made this card for the SC293 Sketch Challenge and got to take some new stamps for a test drive in the process. Ahhhh...got of love the smell of new rubbah in the wee morning hours! lol

I just recently put in my first order for some of the new releases by The Cat's Pajama's stamp company and let me tell you...I will be back with a vengeance! These stamps are awesome and I was thrilled with the shipping times too :D

For this card, I combined the A Cuppa set with the sentiment from the Ship Happens set to create this sweet and fun little A2 sized card. The bear has been water coloured with tombows, the background was sponged and the apron was paper pieced. I also had a chance to utilize some of my much neglected felt flowers from SU but I added a button to them to jazz it up a bit :)

Alrighty. That's all for now as I am off to bed to saw some logs :) Have a great night everyone!

Card Recipe:

Stamps: TCP - Ship Happens and A Cuppa
Paper: Gina K, Water Colour, Black, October Afternoon DP (Ducks in a Row)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Mustard, Cocoa, Caramel
Accessories: Sewing Machine, Corner Rounder Punch, Crochet Lace, Clear Embossing Powder, Cuttlebug and Embossing Folders, SU Felt Flowers, Button, Linen Thread, Sponges, Pop Dots, Tombow Dual Brush Pens and Water Brush

Rubber Ducky You're the One - TSG67

Rubber Ducky, you're the one....

Sorry, I couldn't help myself ;) I just got back from camping for a week and after a very adventurous week, I finally got a chance to sit down and stamp :) I pulled out this sweet duck that is from the Polka Dot Pals set by There She Goes.

I made this card for today's challenge that just happens to be a sketch by the very talented trendsetter Pam :) To find the TSG67 challenge, please follow this link.

The little duck has been water coloured and then popped up in amongst the die cut waves that I made by using the die from the Cat's Pajamma's. I sponged the background behind the duck with some baja ink and then stitched around the circle as well as all the layers of designer paper.

I wanted to use a sentiment on this card but I was running out of room because this is a little 4 1/4" square note card, so I pulled out a scrap of shrink plastic and put it to good use. I then attached a jump ring to my little sentiment charm so that it can swing freely from the taffeta ribbon :)

So on a totally different side note...remember how I mentioned a very adventurous camping trip? We were camping at my parents cabin on Quadra Island for a week and right in the middle of that week, this happened...

Why yes, that would be my sweet little 6 year old sporting a rather trendy shade of pacific pointe on his brand spankin' new cast ;) Little mister man skidded across a soccer ball and landed in a lawn ornament and broke his right arm....for the 3rd time in his short 6 years of living. I'm hoping that our next camping trip will be a little less "adventurous" ;)

Card Recipe:

Stamps: There She Goes - Polka Dot Pals
Paper: Gina K, Black, Water Colour, October Afternoon Thrift Shoppe
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Mustard, Baja, Navy
Accessories: Sewing Machine, Cuttlebug and Embossing Folders, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Cat's Pajama's Wave Die, Clear Embossing Powder, Tombow Markers and Water Brush, Shrink Plastic, Scallop Edge Punch, Corner Rounder, Sponges, Pop Dots, Brads, Ribbon, Jump Ring
