CDS Sneak Peek - Porch Conversations

We have made it to the final day of the CDStamps sneak peeks before they are released for sale tomorrow! This set is called Porch Conversations and I couldn't help but be inspired by this sweet little yellow cottage that our very own Linda Bornemen owns :)

I watercoloured the house to look like Linda's cottage and pulled the bright colours for the card from the stamped image. I didn't attempt to paper tole this card because with the bright colours and detailed stamp, I thought it would take away from the rest of the card. I just love how the bright primary colours really make the card stand out!

Lori McCrosky has a picture of what the entire set looks like on her blog, you just have to scroll down to see it :) Be sure to hop around and check out the links below to see what the girls have come up with to show you.

CDS Sneak Peek - Rosebud Castle

Here is the last card of the day and it uses one of Shawne Arnold's new stamps called Rosebud Castle. You can purchase this along with the rest of the "Rosebud" line on July 1st from Clear Dollar Stamps.

Phew! This card was a little more work than I anticipated because I just couldn't stop with all the layers! I would colour one up only to decide that it needed another, then another...I'm a paper tole addict and I can admit it! *grin*

Just to give you an idea of the size of stamp this is, it has been made on a 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" square card! It's a big one! I sponged the castle a background of rolling hills and blue skies, just like every princess castle should have :) I borrowed the words "Happily ever after" from the previously release Rosebud Princess set.

CDS Sneak Peek - Charlie Summer Fun

It's day 3 of the CDStamps Sneak Peeks and today I have 2 cards to share with you (I will post the other a little later in the day). Charlie is back and he is ready for some summer fun at the beach of course! He is donning his inner tube and hoping to catch a wave or two!

He has been watercoloured with bright colours for safety in the water and has been paper toled to come to life. The gorgeous beach has been sponged on with various inks and all he needs is for his friends to arrive! And what kind of beach would this be if it didn't have shells I might ask? Lucky for Charlie, his shells are shell buttons that coordinate with his background! *grin*

This sweet card is made with the new Charlie Summer Fun set that will be available on July 1st from Clear Dollar Stamps. Would you believe that that card contains no ribbon or fibers? It was was of the CDS DT Challenges that we were given, so who was I to argue? These buttons are threaded with very fine strips of paper! I managed to slice some fine pieces with my craft knife, ruler and mat :o)

Lori McCrosky has a picture of what the entire set looks like on her blog, you just have to scroll down to see it :) Be sure to hop around and check out the links below to see what the girls have come up with to show you and pop back in for a peek at my Rosebud Castle card.

CDS Sneak Peek - Summer Blooms Dahlia

Welcome back for Day 2 of the Clear Dollar Stamps sneak peeks! Today I only have one card to showcase and it's called Summer Blooms Dahlia. This gorgeous flower is my other set in my Dreamtime Designs line and will be available on July 1st!

This card reached trifecta with the CDS DT Challenges :) It fits the bill for the No Designer Paper, Inspiration and the Colour Challenge (White and Metallic). I was pretty darn excited to cram 3 challenges into one card - it's a rarity for me! The Dahlia has been stamped with Versa Mark and then coated with a 50% mix of Ranger Gold Tinsel and Ranger Gold Embossing Powders to create a really beautiful, sparkly image. This picture does not doe the the embossing any justice!

I pulled out my Tombow Markers and Aqua Painter to watercolour up the flower with a punch of colour against the white. I was able to create the design in the white card stock by using a metal stencil by Joy! Crafts. All I did was use it in my Cuttlebug with the same "sandwich" that you would use with your Nestabilities. I then took my craft knife and carefully cut out some of the embossed areas.

I finished off the card with an assortment of embellishments. I found the gorgeous glass beads at my local Dollerama while the luxurious ribbon and brass hat pin were ordered from Clear Dollar Stamps. The little brass embellishments in the corners are actually half beads that were supposed to be used for decorating bracelets from Michael's but I found a better use for them *wink*

CDS Sneak Peek - Lost In Space

I saved this cute set for my last posting of the day. This adorable set is called Lost in Space and was illustrated by none other than myself :) It will be available on July 1st and I know that you all are already counting down the days until you can buy it *giggle*

I don't know what has gotten into me lately but I have been on a bold and bright papers kick (you would see more if it in the Dirty Dozen Gallery). I guess it's been the bright and sunny weather with all of the colourful beach toys that has gotten into me! Needless to say since this is a silly looking alien set, it called for some fun colours ;)

This card is 5 1/2" x 51/2". I have clear embossed some stars on the turquoise DP and watercoloured the main image with my aqua painter and tombow markers. I added some diamond stickles for some fun sparkle and put crystal effects on the windshield to make it extra glossy. The spaceship has been paper toled and placed on top of one REALLY sparkly star. The star is cut from a sheet of Doodlebug Sparkly Designer Paper - fun stuff! I have punched out 3 little circles with my cropodile and adhered them to my DP and finished it off with a trio of silver mini brads (CDS).

CDS Sneak Peek - Sheltering Lights

Isn't this set beautiful? Welcome back to card 3 of 4 today (to see the others just scroll down my blog). This gorgeous set is called Sheltering Lights and features 2 lighthouses. It will be available on July 1st from Clear Dollar Stamps.

I created this card for the CDS DT Sketch Challenge provided to us by Laurie Wilson. It worked perfectly to create this sponged sunset background! I literally sponged the colour on the paper using some masks and then covered the water area with Versa Mark and embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder for a wet look.

I watercoloured the lighthouse with Stampin' Up! Re-Inkers and my Aqua Painter. I then trimmed it to fit in the corner of the background paper and then added dimensionals to paper tole it. This card really didn't take me too long to do because I wanted the image to me the main statement so I kept the rest of the card relatively clutter free.

Don't forget to hop around and see all of the wonderful cards that the girls have come up with and come on back a little later today to see the one of the newest sets in the Dreamtime Designs line :)

Card Recipe:

Stamps: Clear Dollar Stamps - Sheltering Lights
Paper: Gina K, Basic Black, Watercolour, Cosmo Cricket DP
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Baja Breeze, Soft Sky, Not Quite Navy, Night of Navy, Apricot Appeal, Blush Blossom, Pumkin Pie, Versa Mark
Accessories: Sewing Machine, Cuttlebug, Ribbon, Eyelets, Twine Fiber, Sponges, Dimensionals, Aqua Painter, Re-Inkers, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Clear Embossing Powder, Jump Ring, Charm

This is card number 2 of the CDStamps sneak peeks to show you today and the set it's featuring is called Shining Strength which will be available on July 1st! This set is designed to coordinate beautifully with another set that I will be showing you later today called Sheltering Lights.

This scripture makes a wonderful main image on a card all by it's self or paired with any other CDStamps set. I spied this gorgeous layout on one of Amy Sheffer's cards and new it would be perfect to make an elegant 4 1/4" square note card - Thanks Amy! :)

And just what have I been up to?

Boy has this past week ever been a busy one! I thought that I would give a little peek into our last week with some quickly edited photos. Both of my kids attend the same preschool and it being the end of the year for the kids, of course there is a mini "graduation" ceremony to attend! Taiton is onto bigger things in September - Kindergarden and he can't wait to attend "the big school" now :)

Ashylnn will get to come back for another year of preschool and is so happy because she gets to take Taiton's spot in the Kinderprep Program because she will be 4 soon enough. She has been telling me all week that she is a big girl now and that she loves her teachers - SO cute!

After the ceremony we quickly packed up and headed up to my parent's vacation property on Quadra Island. The weather was wonderful with only one day of rain and when we got there Grandpa was waiting with his new toy. The kids practically ran me over to get a ride on the quad with Grandpa! Can you see the satellite dish in the background? Oh yes...we were definitely roughing it! lol

This is our home away from home :) - After many years of camping, I realized that me and tents don't get along too well! lol I even brought my craft stuff so that I could get ahead on some pending deadlines...if I only remembered to bring my inkpads...

Here is a photo taken from the beach. I have probably taken this exact photo 10 times and I never get tired of looking at this view! This is Granite Bay on a remote part of Quadra Island. They are working now to put through some power lines and this time next year I should have all the amenities needed to function in my world :)

This is one of my favourite photos of the trip! I love looking at the boat launch from the beach and I really have no idea why! lol I probably took over 100 photos while we were there of different things but I keep coming back to this one. Maybe because I have edited it and the others are still untouched? Could be...probably is *wink* I still have to edit the photos of the old Lucky Jim Gold Mine, Abandoned Fish Hatchery and Cabin, the 15lb Spring Salmon my Dad caught, a shipwreck and so many other goodies! It's amazing what you can see when you are off roading on overgrown parts of the island!

We had so much fun and plan to do a lot of camping this summer because the smiles above is really what summer is all about :)

SC232 - Simple Elegance

Nope, I'm not dead! Did yah miss me? lol

I have been working like a mad woman recently and I have been noticing that all my days go by like a blur! Bill has had the last 4 days off so I took the opportunity to cram in as many Dirty Dozen projects as I could in that time frame, babysat for my cousin, prepped for and taught a card class. I have gotten alot done so far, but I still have so much to do before we leave for a week's worth of camping where there is *gasp* little to no Internet access...oh the horrors! *grin*

So as I was coming up for a breath of fresh air to do something non design team affiliated, Bill noticed what I was doing and just shook his head. On his way out of my craft room he muttered to himself that I am a glutton for punishment! - Must be a man...he just doesn't get it does he? lol

Well enough about that...at least you know that I haven't dropped off the face of the earth and that the abandonment was just temporary :) Today is the Sketch Challenge (SC232) over at SCS. As you can probably tell already, I flipped the sketch around so that I could have a top fold, A2 sized card. I needed to make something fairly simple, but I didn't want it to look simple. I chose a Magenta Wheel that I unmounted and cut into sections to stamp out my image. It was the perfect size with only a small amount of watercolouring. The image fit really well with my Cuttlebug Dies that I used for the square pieces.

I then added some really rich and elegant ribbon from Clear Dollar Stamps and a little half pearl embellishment to finish it off :) Ok, now that I have had a break, I'm headed back down to my craft room...If I don't resurface by the morning...send chocolate and a whole lotta coffee!

Card Recipe:

Stamps: Magenta
Paper: Gina K, Basic Black, 7 Gypsies DP, Basic Grey DP, Watercolour
Ink: Versafine Onxy Black, Creamy Caramel
Accessories: Sewing Machine, Cuttlebug and Dies, Ribbon, Sponges, Dimensionals, Half Pearl, Tombow Markers, Aqua Painter
