Bundle Up!

Today I am mourning the loss of my children napping. My kids used to nap regularly and that allowed me time to create items such as this card above. Well, for the last week or so they have been pint sized tornado's instead of napping angels. Let me explain...

Yesterday, when I thought that they were napping, I went downstairs to my craft room to start watercolouring some images. An hour later I hear the familiar sound of thud, thud, thud down the stairs and my daughter came around the corner buck naked! My kids have been know to strip down to tops and undies on a regular basis while at home, but generally not streaking around the house in the buff! Wondering what the heck they were up to I went back upstairs to find Ashlynn's clothes and survey the damage. What I found was 2 naked kids, an empty dresser of clothing and a pile of sheets, comforters and clothes in the middle of my son's bedroom floor. Apparently they decided to try on all of my son's clothes and then strip them back off to jump into the pile of blankets of the floor!

This brings me to today. I was watercolouring up an image for today's limited supplies challenge when I was interrupted with what sounded like a herd of elephants running away from an earthquake! Immediately I ran upstairs to see if walls were falling down in the house...nope, just my angels (and I use that term loosely) dumping all of the toys off the bookshelves in my son's closet, overturning one of the toy bins (the one that holds all of the minuscule tid bits of "toys" that they collect) and to see my daughter popping out of the wooden toy box like at girl in a birthday surprise cake. Ughhh!

Now I know that one day I will laugh at these things... but for now, I think that I count the seconds until bedtime tonight when I can go back downstairs and finish what I was working on! Don't they know that I have things to do and that I depend on the luxuries of their nap times? Sigh...So today I bring you a cute Whipper Snapper card that I made last week using the November releases. :)

I miss nap times. I would so have liked to show you a completed Limited Supplies Challenge...
I think that I will now go and have a pity party while soaking in a steaming tub...maybe with a glass of wine to help me reconfigure my crafting schedule! I know that there is always plenty of time to create between midnight and 3 am!!!! lol

OMG-- That is SOOOO my house!! I too have heard the big thud to race upstairs and find a dresser toppled over due to all of the clothes being emptied onto the floor and the drawers being used as a ladder!! My oldest quite frequently could be found stripped naked running around the back yard at about age 3, so I feel ya'! lol. Glad it's not just me--- well, I LOVE, LOVE the layout of this card-- Just adorable and FAB paper!!

Trust me, in no time at all (& the time DOES go quickly!) they will both be in school, & you will have 8 glorious hours to yourself!! Unlike for me, now, my hubby is home all day every day until the end of the year....so much for MY free time....but I will get it back! Hope you got a picture of the buck nakeds jumping into their pile of blankets!! What a scrap page THAT would make!

So adorable Kim. Such wonderful creations! I'm a bit confused here...are you sure that you're not living at my house? My little angels aren't napping this week either, and though my house is on one level, "the boy" stripped himself naked yesterday and striped his bed, pulled out all the diapers on the shelf and well, your story just sounds so familiar. Yes, my dear, enjoy thse moments no matter how frustrating, when their teenagers, you'll be wishing for these days back again...believe me I know, I've already raised 4 teenagers. My wee ones at home are ages 2 1/2 and identical twins aged 5 months. Their parents are on their way over to Afghanistan for a year. Long story, but we love these kids like they were our very own, messes, defiance and all...

When my kids do that they call it playing "Dirty Jobs." LOL! Then I have to explain that the point of the TV show is to clean up, not make a knee deep mess of toys.
(Sigh) One in school, two more to go. :)

Kim, I love love love the little chicken in this latest card! I don't have kids yet so I can't relate to your story, but I imagine I'll long for the day they start school, as a previous poster mentioned! ~Rebecca, paper*bouquet

sweet card! When my children out-grew nap time I changed it to quiet time. They didn't have to sleep but they had to play quietly in their bedroom or toy room for an hour. Some days they were bored, some days they amused themselves nicely and other days, they fell asleep!

Kim, your stuff is always so amazing! One day, I learn how you "popped" something as tiny as that chicken's scarf! You must have the hands of a surgeon!
