Country Living

Sometimes I am able to stumble upon a stamp and have an idea of how I would like to use it right away. If I'm not able to purchase it right then and there then it haunts me until I own it! lol This particular Stampendous image "spoke" to me right away. I have looked at this stamp whenever I had ventured into my local stamp store and I finally took it home with me.

The image reminds me of some pictures that I came across years ago in a poster store - they were in a black frame and they really stood out. I had a notion to re-create the landscape and feature the stamp right in the middle. I wanted the dimensional image to really pop, so it was mounted on a brighter earth tone and framed within the landscape.

I quilted the landscape so that the threads changed colours with the card stock. I helps with the framing and doesn't take away from the design of the paper. The landscape consists of torn and cut pieces of card stock adhered to a scrap, sewn then run through my cuttlebug to cut the frame and emboss.

Tip: Always sponge the edges of your card stock with a coordinating in to help the torn edges to stand out - especially if you are layering torn edges of the same colour on top of each other :)

This is stunning! I'm so intrigued by how you layered all the elements to create such a perfect frame for your focal point. Thank you for sharing!

Wow! Could you do a tutorial?? I'm not sure I understand how you make your images pop...also, when you say you quilted the card, did you stop the machine and change the thread each time you reached a different paper color on the card base or do you have a special sewing maching???

Thanks! Mary

Hi Mary,

I won't be able to post a tutorial right away, but I will do my best to answer your questions :) The pieces that I want to "pop" are cut out and layered with dimensional tape (the image must be stamped a couple of times and the pieces cut out to make one image). I have a very basic sewing machine (I am a quilter as well) I do stop at the end of each colour of card stock and switch the treads - tedious but worth it :)I hope that this helps!
Thanks everybody for your wonderful comments :)
