CDS Sneak Peek - At the Races

Welcome back for day 2 of the Clear Dollar Stamps sneak peeks! This cute set is called At the Races and is my other new illustrated set for September. My son has a HUGE love of race cars...well pretty much anything that has wheels and makes noise, so I figured that there were other race car fans out there somewhere too :)

This card was a combined challenge card for the CDS DT and it follows the sketch and colour challenges (orange and blue) that we were given. The race car was watercoloured with tombow markers, paper toled and then placed on top of my sponged background with dimensionals.

I got a little busy adding different threads for stitching and I'm pretty sure that just changing the bobbins and thread colours alone to me longer to do than make the actual card! lol Most of the Basic Grey Ambrosia DP's were cuttlebugged and some of the layers were popped up with more dimensionals.

Thanks for popping by to see my new set, but don't forget to visit the rest of the blogs below to see all of the fabulous new stamps that are being shown today. All the sets that are being previewed will be available on September 1st. Happy hopping :)

CDS Sneak Peek - Hockey Time

Whoa have I been busy and very neglectful of my poor blog. I just finished wrapping up my final Dirty Dozen Gallery *sniff* and have now get to sit back, relax and take on the roll of Dirty Dozen Alumni :) I'm also working on a rather large project at the moment and I will spill that secret on September 1st, so stay tuned! Right now I bring you day one of the Clear Dollar Stamps sneak peeks (by the way, have you seen the yummy new store yet?). This set is one of my newest and is called Hockey Time. It will be available on September 1st along with many more wonderful sets that you are sure to see in the next 4 days of CDS previews!

This card was made for two of our monthly DT challenges - No Designer Paper and Distressing. I used a fabulous tutorial that I saw over at SCS to create the Recessed Frame to showcase my Team Canada Jersey (or my rendition of it anyway) lol. For all of my American peeps, I included a star in the set too so that you could make a Team USA Jersey :)

I tried to create this set for all of those Hockey lovers out there...including my husband and daughter. This is perfect for anyone who plays hockey, or just loves it in general :) Be sure to pop by everyone's blogs to see all of the new sets that are being previewed today and I *think* there might even be a girly jersey and a NHL jersey to be spotted in the bunch :)

Card Recipe:

Stamps: Clear Dollar Stamps - Hockey Time
Paper: Gina K, Basic Black, Riding Hood Red, Watercolour
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Creamy Caramel, More Mustard, Riding Hood Red, Bravo Burgundy
Accessories: Sewing Machine, Cuttlebug and Embossing Folders, Eyelets, Clear Embossing Powder, Aqua Painter, Tombow Markers, Dimensionals, Sponges, Distressing Tool

While I procrastinate...

Hi everybody! Yes, it's me...the ghost blogger. You know, the one who takes forever to post and in the mean time you have forgotten that I ever existed...yeah, that one. *wink*

August has been one incredibly insane month for me so I'm actually on holidays right now :) Yesterday I was dragged out of the bush where we were camping without an Internet connection to come home while Bill works 2 shifts and then he's dragging me back there, so in the mean time I come to you with this card that I made about 6 months ago! lol

On Monday we are heading back to the bush so I will be MIA but have 2 scheduled blog posts for you. As I sit here typing this, I really should be working on my next 2 stamp releases and a top secret project...but I'm not really into working at the moment, so instead, I will stall for awhile on here...then maybe on Facebook...then some Splitcoast....then, um maybe some blog surfing :)

But while I'm here I should really tell you a little bit about this card. It's been sitting in a box and forgotten about for the last 6 months and as I was taking some pictures of it tonight I realized that I made a really ugly boo boo on it. Upon closer inspection I noticed that my sewing is a little less than top notch and that brings me to a lesson learned and a couple of tips for you.

Lesson #1 If your thread ever looks like the one in this picture, please remember to tighten your bobbin threads!

Lesson #2 Sewing Machines really don't think that sandpaper should be stitched on (at least this card is a reminder that mine doesn't!)

Seems to me that the reason this card got tossed aside was the messy stitching - oh well, another day another embellishment opportunity! lol

Card Recipe:

Stamps: DMD Beach
Paper: PTI White, Basic Black, Watercolour, Basic Grey DP, Sandpaper
Ink: Basic Black, Versa Mark, Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Taken with Teal, Not Quite, Navy, Bashful Blue, Soft Sky, Elegant Eggplant
Accessories: Sewing Machine, Sponges, Dimensionals, Crystal Effects, Aqua, Painter, Re-Inkers, Cuttlebug and Embossing Folders, Clear Embossing Powder

Congratulations! I will send off your info to the Our Craft Lounge gals and they will be mailing your set off to you :)

Also before I end this post, I just wanted to mention that I have added an Etsy Store to my side bar. I plan on adding some cards in the future, but for now I have stocked it full of the hair clips that I make for my daughter. She loves them, I love them, they are adorable and most importantly...they stay in her hair! So, feel free to take a peek :)

That's all for now and Congratulations to JoAnn for winning some wonderful new OCL stamps! If you don't already own some, you will LOVE them!

Now, do you wanna see what I did with this fabulous set? I made Granny extra fablous and went a little crazy with some stickles...well, maybe extrememly crazy with said glitter glue! Granny's hat, shoes, jewllery, buttons, and flower centers all have sparkles...um so does all the wild wasabi matting...and...maybe just a few more sprinkles on the flower punches. Hee hee :)

So this Granny Fashionista is sporting prisma colour pencil crayon and gamsol everything! She chose her favourite minty green knit sweater and decided to punch up her ensemble with a lovely floral print dress in shades of citrus. I think we can all agree that Granny is somewhat of a trendsetter, expertly choosing shades that highlight her blue tinged locks of hair. *grin*

I *may* have been a little indescisive on the shape that I wanted for the main image, so that's why you see this rather unique tag-ish shape expertly made by me :) I was determinded to keep this mishap because I spent the time colouring it before cutting it out (big mistake on colouring it before hand!) Lesson learned! lol

OCL Sneak Peek - Holiday Cruiser

A little while ago, I was invited to participate in the Fall release of the Our Craft Lounge stamps by making a couple of samples, participating in tomorrow's blog hop, and giving away some yummy OCL blog candy - yep, that's right! I said OCL Blog Candy baby! Check back here tomorrow for all the deets :)

The set that I chose to sneak peek is called Holiday Cruiser and features some really famous and adorable holiday characters :) As you can see, Santa is on his way to deliver the goods via his trusty automobile as the reindeer are on holidays (somewhere warmer I can imagine *wink* ). His vehicle has be pimped by the elves with festive Christmas garland and shiny red bows and they have decided to accessories the presents this year.

I have coloured Santa with prisma colour pencil crayons with gamsol on kraft paper and added crystal effects, stickles and liquid applique for some mean fluff on his coat. This snow banks are torn paper that has been sponged and added an extra icy coat of stickles along the edges and the trees are scraps of card stock that have been cuttlebugged for extra texture.

Our Craft Lounge is releasing 31 new sets and will have been doing previews for the past two days. You can find out who is previewing each set here. Don't' forget to pop back tomorrow to see another sneak peek and get in on the blog hop candy!

These are the ladies that are previewing some fabulous sets today:
